Why Cambridge?
Cambridge Assessment International Education(CAIE) is the world’s largest
provider of international education programs and qualifications having been established over 150 years ago. Currently, there are over 10,000 Cambridge schools in more than 160 countries. At LIS we offer two academic programs in Year 12 and Year 13, which include:
- Cambridge AS & A level program
- Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), Diploma Level 3
AS-A Level?
The Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS Level) and Advanced Level or “A Level”, is the ‘gold standard’ of Cambridge qualifications,
accepted as an entry qualification by world’s best universities in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, Egypt, Jordan, South
Africa, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Kenya, Malaysia and elsewhere around the world.
BTEC
BTEC is an established and highly successful alternative to general qualifications, suitable for a wide range of learners. Its design perfectly meets the needs of employers as well as supports progression to university. It provides a more practical, real-world approach to learning. BTEC National learners are expected to take responsibility for their learning and be keen and well-organized. Learners should enjoy having more freedom while knowing they can still ask for help or support if they need it from tutors and mentors.
Assessment
Light International School(LIS) holds Cambridge International AS; A Level examination series once a year, in June, only for LIS students. Results are issued in August.
As for BTEC, In order to pass the course, the learner must pass every unit. Throughout the course, they will be assessed by their tutors in order to decide their final result. BTEC courses do not rely on a single test at the end of the course, which can be very unfair.
Instead, assessments take place in all units, building up a profile of results throughout the year, which is used as a basis for the grades that appear on certificates. This process is called ‘continuous assessment’. For every assignment learners encounter, they will be given a grade that indicates how well they have performed. Career Counselling And Testing
LIS gives a psychometric test to every learner upon admission with an aim of identifying learner’s ability, interest and passion. With the results of the career test, we have a dedicated office that offers guidance and advise on the subjects that one needs to take in order to achieve his/her desired career dream.

LIS offers tuition fee discounts, for students who do well in their Cambridge IGCSE examinations. When applying, attach your exam results to the application form. The Tuition Discount offered is ONLY valid for ONE YEAR.
