Kindergarten at Light International School
Our Kindergarten level offers much to the young learners. At LIS, we use IEYC (International Early Years Curriculum) along with Jolly Phonic reading program. Our system allows children to learn through holistic enquiry and play based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development. We also have lots of learning resources and materials which help teach and add to the learning experience of the little children. In our kindergarten, we have low student-teacher ratio, ensuring that each child gets individual attention from our able and dedicated staff. The result is that each child’s individual needs are able to be met in an understanding and friendly environment.
Our teachers at the Kindergarten are Professionals and very enthusiastic about working with young children. We also have a fulltime nanny to aid the smooth running of the kindergarten.

This level too consists of subject content, planning and resource guides, guidance for curriculum implementation, development, and support for learning.
As a program developed with consistent standards that are externally benchmarked across thousands of students, it enables reliable structured reporting to parents about the performance of their children, which has validity beyond the school. It also allows a school to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the demands of the IGCSE courses in these subjects.
The evidence will demonstrate what you have learnt and will be looked at during moderation by your assessors.
Cambridge Assessment
Cambridge Lower Secondary includes two testing options:
• Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests and
• Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint.
These assessments provide an international reference of student achievement, helping teachers to identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses and give advice on progression routes.
Our year 9 students sit for Cambridge Checkpoint examination once a year, in April and results published in August. The following subject areas are examined;

They are also assessed internally on a regular basis through a range of different methods including tests, coursework, homework, term papers and teacher observation just like years 7 and 8.
What is Cambridge IGCSE?

Assessment
Light International School(LIS) holds Cambridge International AS & A Level
examination series twice a year, in June and November for both LIS students and private candidates. Results are issued in August and January.
Career Counselling And Testing
LIS gives a psychometric test to every learner upon admission with an aim of identifying the learner’s ability, interest and passion. With the results of the career test, we have a dedicated office that offers guidance and advise on the subjects that one needs to take in order to achieve his/her desired career dream.
Tuition Discounts
LIS offers tuition fee discounts, for students who do well in their Cambridge IGCSE examinations. When applying, attach your exam results to the application form. The Tuition Discount offered is ONLY valid for ONE YEAR.
