Light Group of Schools (LGS) has always emphasized on the use of digital learningtools and platforms. When physical learning in actual school environment was made impossible as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, transition to the virtual world was done andimplemented at an accelerated speed.

To effectively make virtual learning fruitful, the involvement of parents is very crucial. It is for this reason that training by our virtual learning support desk was given to parents to help them improve on their digital proficiency.

LIS Virtual Learning Ecosystem is an online environment comprised of a number of web-based platforms/websites for digital facets of courses of study within Light Group of Schools to make our students flourish. The online platforms in the ecosystem provide resources, communications, interactions, activities, and different stages of assessment within a variety of course structures.
Here is a brief of our learning platforms and teaching tools in the ecosystem
Zoom Virtual Classes is a video telephonyand online platform used for teleconferencing, telecommuting, distance education, and social relations. Students get invitation links for class sessions though their Firefly accounts and are able to log in and join the classes.Through this platform, a simulation of an actual class environment is achieved, and both students and teachers get live interaction in the virtual classroom. Teachers can share their screens and give working examples and demonstrations to the students just like it would be done on the board in classroom.
Firefly Learning Management System: Firefly enables schools and teachers to deliver engaging lessons remotely, from setting tasks to sharing resources as well as manage parent communication efficiently.Firefly’s Modern Learning Experience Platform liberates teachers to innovate for greater impact in the classroom and beyond, while empowering leaders with holistic visibility to drive a transformational modern learning strategy for the entire school community. G-Suite for Education (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive): G-Suite is a suite of cloud computing, productivity, and collaboration tools, software, and products developed by Google. By using G-suite products, teachers and learners can manage their work online and communicate while not losing data as they are saving on the Google drive. They can collaborate on assignments given remotely.This is a service from Google that provides independently customizable versions of several Google products.
Mzizi is a School Information System (SIS) that enables the school administrator(s) to perform tasks that affect the academic unit. Through this platform, attendance and communication to parents is done. Parents are able to get feedback from school at the palm of their hands on their phones and gadgets. Tracking of the students’ progress is done and gives a parent comfort and participation in the learning process.
Education City: This is an educational resource for children aged 3-12 and their teachers. Education City helps teachers deliver targeted instruction to individual students, groups, or the whole class by providing high-quality evidence-based assessments in the core subjects as well as over 8,000 cross-curricular resources to support teaching and learning.The platform offers personalized learning pathways for students and hence significant academic progress.
GCSEpod: This is an E-Learning Resource used to teach, assess, monitor, manage, and engage learners. On this platform, students are able to access videos that give further explanations on different topics.GCSEpod comes in handy as a revision and learning tool for years 10 and 11.It is expertly written with rich content for 27 GCSE subjects. It makes blending of revision and learning easy at the comfort of a student’s device.It is an award-winning resource that puts evidence and progress at the heart of everything that is done.
Mathletics: A 3P Learning Product of learning resources designed for schools and families, covering mathematics. Reading Eggs: This is an online reading program that helps students learn to read. Hundreds of online reading lessons, phonics games, and books for ages 2–13 are available on this platform. Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for students. It has games, songs, golden eggs, and other rewards, whichmotivates them to keep exploring and learning.
