About us
Welcome to Light International School Lenana. We are a Learning Centre offering the Cambridge Early Years curriculum, enriched with a Montessori-inspired approach. Located along Lenana Road, Kilimani, our environment nurtures curiosity, confidence and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
We opened on Lenana Road in September 2012 as part of the Light Group of Schools, and today we welcome children from Reception to Year 3 from local and international families.
A friendly start to school
We believe the early years are the most formative in a child’s life. With us, children are not only learning letters and numbers – they are discovering who they are. We combine structured learning with guided play, exploration and creativity, in a warm and supportive setting where every child is known by name.
Cambridge Early Years, the Montessori way
We follow the Cambridge Early Years curriculum and continue with Cambridge Primary up to Year 3. Our Montessori-inspired approach gives children hands-on materials, freedom to choose and explore, and time to learn at their own pace – building independence, concentration and a love of learning. From us, children move confidently into Year 4 at LIS Lavington and on through the Light Group of Schools.
What makes us special
- Learning through play – well-structured indoor and outdoor play every day, from sand play and swings to music and drama.
- Caring teachers – who know each child and work closely with parents.
- Award-winning projects – our spelling bee and Golden Climate projects have earned many awards.
- Clubs and activities – mind games, art and craft, music and dance, skating, taekwondo, football, swimming and gymnastics.
- A community of families – Cultural Day, Mother’s Day, Fun Day and our Little Lights tournaments bring families together.
Our values
Together with the Light Group of Schools, we are committed to raising children who are morally upright, socially responsible and academically competent – Access to Success.
