Learning Resources and Activities
At Light International School Mombasa, we understand that the early years of a child’s education lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. In our kindergarten, we prioritize creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where young learners can thrive. Our classrooms are equipped with a wide array of engaging learning resources and materials designed to captivate young minds and enrich their educational journey. With a low student-teacher ratio, every child receives personalized attention from our skilled and dedicated staff, ensuring their unique needs are met with care and understanding. Our teachers are passionate professionals who bring enthusiasm and expertise to working with young children. They are supported by a full-time nanny, ensuring the kindergarten operates smoothly and that every child feels safe and supported throughout the day. At LIS Mombasa, we believe that learning for young children should be an adventure filled with fun, joy, and hands-on activities. We combine patience, creativity, and excitement to make every moment in kindergarten a joyful stepping stone toward a bright future.
Multicultural Environment
At Light International School Mombasa, we celebrate the beauty of diversity and embrace respect for all cultures and religions. Our vibrant learning community is enriched by children from various nationalities and cultural backgrounds, creating a unique environment where inclusivity and understanding thrive. We believe that exposure to diverse perspectives fosters open-mindedness and empathy. By nurturing these values from an early age, we help young learners build meaningful relationships and develop a strong sense of global citizenship. At LIS Mombasa, we aim to provide not just education but a foundation for children to grow into compassionate and well-rounded individuals, prepared to navigate and contribute positively to an interconnected world.
Students Council
Student leadership at LIS provides students with a platform to develop essential leadership skills by organizing and executing school activities and service-learning projects. It empowers students to take initiative in planning events that foster school spirit and promote community welfare. The Student Council serves as the voice of the student body, providing a structured channel for sharing student ideas, interests, and concerns with the wider school community.
Council members represent their peers’ views on matters of general interest and actively collaborate with the school administration to ensure these perspectives are considered in decision-making.
Students passionate about leadership, organizational behavior, event planning, or deeper involvement in school programs can vie for one of the 20 positions available in the Student Council. Elections are conducted electronically to ensure transparency and fairness, and elected members serve a term of one academic year.
The Student Council meets fortnightly, where they discuss ongoing projects, plan upcoming events, and address student concerns. This structure provides students with hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing them to be active, engaged citizens both within and beyond the school community.
