Cambridge Early Years is our new programme for 3-6 year olds. It gives young learners the best start in life, helping them to meet key early milestones and thrive in and outside of school. Cambridge Early Years is the first stage in our Cambridge Pathway, which gives students a clear path for educational success from age 3-19.

We also have lots of learning resources and materials which help teach and add to the learning experience of the little children. In our kindergarten, we have low student-teacher ratio, ensuring that each child gets individual attention from our able and dedicated staff. The result is that each child’s individual needs are able to be met in an understanding and friendly environment.
Our teachers at the Kindergarten are Professionals and very enthusiastic about working with young children. We also have a fulltime nanny to aid the smooth running of the kindergarten.

As a program developed with consistent standards that are externally benchmarked across thousands of students, it enables reliable structured reporting to parents about the performance of their children, which has validity beyond the school. It also allows a school to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the demands of the IGCSE courses in these subjects.
The evidence will demonstrate what you have learnt and will be looked at during moderation by your assessors.
Cambridge Assessment
Cambridge Lower Secondary includes two testing options:
• Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests and
• Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint.
These assessments provide an international reference of student achievement, helping teachers to identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses and give advice on progression routes.
Our year 9 students sit for Cambridge Checkpoint examination once a year, in April and results published in August. The following subject areas are examined;

They are also assessed internally on a regular basis through a range of different methods including tests, coursework, homework, term papers and teacher observation just like years 7 and 8.

After the AS, students do the A2 or A level. Here, they drop one subject from the four done at the As. They will then focus on the remaining 3 subjects to sit the year 13 examination
Assessment at LIS Mombasa
Light International School(LIS) holds Cambridge International AS & A Level examination series twice a year, in June and November for both LIS students and private candidates. Results are issued in August and January.

SAT Scholastic Aptitude Test
This is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. Since its debut in 1926, its name and scoring have changed several times. On average, there are over 1.7 million students who take the test annually. The scores/grades are used by most universities to determine admission. The same has qualified many students for scholarships especially those in the United States of America.
AICE
With the varied learners abilities and the dynamic global academic demands, LIS Mombasa prepares learners for the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma to the As and A level students. This diploma makes the students more competitive in terms of acquisition of knowledge and critical thinking. The students doing year 12 and 13 qualify for this diploma course.
