WELCOME
We are an international school in Kenya with 5 branches across the cities of Nairobi, Mombasa and Malindi. The school has roots in the highly successful and popular Light Academy Schools located in different cities across Kenya and is dedicated to the international curriculum.
At LIS we go beyond producing academically competent students (which is part of our culture) and also bring up socially responsible and culturally sensitive individuals who are truly global citizens.

OUR EDUCATION MODEL
We do understand the inevitable fact that as each day passes by, the world is being taken over by technology. It is for this reason that we prefer to incorporate it into our students’ education. We have adopted various learning management systems such as Coolsis, Google Suite for Education, Mathletics, Reading Eggs and Zoom.
These software are meant to complement physical classes by offering platforms for teachers to assign homework and tests to the students, as well as enabling the teachers to come up with fun quizzes which help stimulate the students in class.
Parents can track their students’ educational progress as well as their discipline since their academic grades and discipline reports are made available in the systems.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, for instance, many students all over the world were unfortunate to stay away from school since many countries enforced a mandatory lockdown. Our students however were not disadvantaged since it was easy for us to transition to a fully online education model. All our staff are technology savvy and our goal is to make sure that every student is very computer literate by the time they leave this place. They will need that dearly in today’s world.
ACCESS TO SUCCESS
At Light International School, we have an internship program which gives our A levels students a chance to experience the corporate world. Every year, we send them to different companies which are relevant to the students’ career paths of choice. They get to have a taste of their desired careers before they join university so that they can know whether they are making a mistake or reinforcing and affirming their choices.
Choosing the wrong career path is one of the worst mistakes that a person can make concerning their life. Through this program, our students are steered away from such pitfalls. They also get to gain both technical and interpersonal skills that are required in their respective fields. Having such experience in their resumes will be a boost for them when applying for ivy league universities.
We make sure to select reputable companies so that our students receive quality hands on experience. The companies are in line with the industries which our students are interested in venturing in. Some of them are;
BLOG POST & EVENTS
Achieving Excellence in Education: CIS AccreditationOn April 19th,…
Our schools are never short of activities. We are constantly keeping our students busy whenever they are out of class with sporting activities, cultural events, and competitions (both local and international) such as the IFLC, World Scholars Cup, Model United Nations, and various Science & Technology olympiads.
We also have a number of clubs such as; robotics, digital arts, swimming, karate, mind games, roller skating, and sports (soccer, basketball, rugby etc),
Apart from clubs and competitions, we teach our students about charity, empathy, and responsibility through activities such as tree planting, donations, orphanages visits, and acts of service. For example, last term we had our Year 11s from LIS Nairobi volunteer to serve lunch at the dining hall during their life skills class, through which they felt what it’s like to serve others. Our Year 9s visited Kibera to give out donations while our year 10s hosted kids from an orphanage at our Karen campus for team building and other fun activities.
