The Biology Department at Light International School plays a key role in many students’ academic choices. Our students study biology at three different levels: Key Stage 3, IGCSE and Advanced level (AS and A L). By the time they have gone through all the levels, our students are adequately prepared to pursue courses in biological sciences, medicine and engineering at college/ university level.
Our students take IGCSE syllabus at the end of Secondary 2 and the grades awarded for this qualification enable them to pursue Cambridge International AS and A Level Biology.
Cambridge International AS Biology constitutes the first half of the Cambridge International A- Level qualification in Biology and therefore provides a firm foundation for the study of biology.
Why Cambridge International AS and A Level Biology?
Universities prefer learners who have a thorough understanding of key concepts in biology, an in-depth knowledge of the most important subject areas and strong practical skills in the subject. Cambridge International AS and A- Level Biology help learners to acquire the knowledge and skills that will prepare them for successful university study.
We have a well-equipped biology laboratory (complete with smart boards, microscopes, computers, data projectors and video/DVD player as well as other necessary biology apparatus. This makes it possible for both teachers and learners to adopt a heuristic approach to teaching/learning, which is an integral part of the learning process at LIS.
