Light International School is an off-shoot of Light Academy which was started in 1998, initially situated along Ngong Road, near the sprawling Kibera slum, Nairobi. It then offered the Kenyan national curriculum (8.4.4), but from 2001 the International General Certificate of Secondary Education curriculum was introduced. Today, the academy runs two ultra-modern campuses located in a quiet environment in Karen that is conducive for teaching and learning.
Light International School offers Secondary 1 (Key stage 3), Secondary 2 (IGCSE), and Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced Level. At all these levels a wide range of subjects is offered. The school currently has a team of 35 qualified, enthusiastic and experienced teachers.
Our school boasts of spacious classrooms in which interactive teaching/learning takes place by use smart boards and other ICT powered teaching/learning methods. In addition, we have ultra-modern subject-specific science laboratories and well-equipped computer laboratories at the disposal of our students.
Light International School has excellent boarding facilities. However, students are free to be day scholars, weekly boarders or full boarders. A dedicated team comprising a boarding master and a number of carefully selected boarding supervisors live with the students in the dormitories to ensure every boarder feels at home all the time.
Apart from academic work, students are involved in a wide range of exciting, immensely beneficial co-curricular activities including national and international project Olympiads and inter-school games. Our students have indeed done us proud in the different events in which they have taken part.
At Light International School, we strive to make our students feel at home away from home as students freely interact with teachers who are ever ready and willing to help.
